We woke up early
in the morning today despite the cold weather as we had to catch the first flight back to pokhara from jumsum. We bid farewell to jumsum with a heavy heart as the place had its own beauty and enchantment be it the nature, the people who were so entwined with nature as well as the imposing Himalayan ranges which reminded the futility of human effort if not combined with divine grace.
We reached pokhara and had breakfast at the same hotel where we had vegetarian lunch two days ago. We then collected our baggages from our hotel in Pokhara (we had left our luggages with the cloak room) and had darshan of the historic Bindhyabasini temple – another temple of Devi with historical significance and revered by the people in pokhara . We were told the drive to Chitwan would take normally 4.5 hours – we enjoyed the whole scenic beauty of the locales as we drove past many agricultural farms and crossed the Shukla Gandaki river.
We reached Chitwan national park, Sauraha, Chitwan and checked in to the Jungle Hermitage – our resort for the next two days. The rest of the day was pretty relaxing. After a cup of coffee during sunset we were treated to the Tharu cultural dance and music in the evening. We retired to bed after a light dinner back at the resort.
Looking forward to an exciting tomorrow where we plan to spend the day in the jungle.
